What's new

  • NewEvery change to Instabooks is listed on the What's New page at instabooks.io/changelog, linked from the footer of every page.
  • ImprovedProduct access follows the subscription: an account whose subscription is not active or on trial is taken to Billing & Subscription to update its payment method or resume.
  • FixedThe payment form confirms reliably after the Billing page re-renders.
  • FixedThe payment form no longer offers Google Pay, which could leave it spinning indefinitely.
  • FixedThe select-all corner cell stays pinned when a wide ledger is scrolled far to the right, and the checkbox column keeps its right border while scrolling.
  • FixedThe running balance tooltip is correct when the ledger is not sorted by date, and the outdated warning about filters is gone.

Batch delete

  • NewBatch Edit's footer has a Delete Selected… button that deletes the selected transactions in QuickBooks Online in one pass, after a confirmation that counts the lines and transactions, notes any unselected lines of the same transactions that go with them, and warns that it cannot be undone.
  • ImprovedThe running balance is always computed from the filtered view, so it works with filters applied.
  • ImprovedDatabase Access docs: the Tables & SQL page is clearer, and images no longer show a zoom cursor that did nothing.

Database Access docs

  • NewPublic documentation for Database Access at instabooks.io/docs/db: connecting with psql, GUI clients, scripts and notebooks, and Excel; the tables and SQL supported; and troubleshooting. Settings → Database Access links to it.
  • ImprovedThe free trial is now 3 days.
  • ImprovedWhen a trial ends without a payment method, or a payment fails, the product pages redirect to Billing & Subscription until a payment method is added, and the page says which of the two happened.
  • ImprovedDB Wire: the joins between tables are declared, so psql's \d and GUI clients show how transaction_lines relates to transactions and accounts; Ctrl-C in psql cancels the running query.
  • FixedSync stays accurate when QuickBooks Online's reports lag a few seconds behind a burst of edits.
  • FixedDB Wire computes numeric expressions correctly; the Settings link is marked with a gear icon next to your name; the Settings page no longer shows a stray scrollbar; expanding a company card on Database Access works reliably; a broken link-out in the ledger is removed.

DB Wire

  • NewDB Wire: query your books with SQL from any Postgres client — psql, a script or notebook, a GUI client, or Excel through ODBC. Settings → Database Access issues read-only per-company passwords and hands out the connection string in Terminal (psql), URL, and Excel (ODBC) formats.
  • ImprovedEvery column filter panel has a footer with a Done button; Remove filter sits at its left while a filter is active.
  • ImprovedBatch Edit's footer explains in red when applying is blocked by lines with uneditable fields, warns in orange how many affected lines are hidden by filters with a Deselect filtered lines button, and keeps Deselect All available.
  • ImprovedChart of Accounts: Make Inactive asks for confirmation, the + button moves to the right of the row actions, and the QBO ID column shows plain text. Ledger text cells get a check button to apply an edit next to the cancel button, and a pending cell is not editable until it settles.
  • FixedFilter option search finds the right matches in companies with many items, and the ledger no longer scrolls the whole page when a banner is shown.
  • FixedThe Beancount export (Download All Transactions as Beancount…) balances every transaction, keeps non-ASCII account names, and exports multi-currency transactions of any size.
  • NewA text filter can Include blanks alongside its match, or Match only blanks.
  • FixedClear All Filters clears every filter input, and a filter panel's autocomplete resets when the panel closes.
  • FixedSafari: the ledger loading animation is smoother and row checkboxes line up.
  • FixedThe payment form on the Billing page loads more reliably.

Public demo

  • NewTry Instabooks without signing in: instabooks.io/try opens a demo company in your own private, fully editable copy of the books, with the Chart of Accounts and the batch-edit ledger and nothing connected to QuickBooks Online.
  • NewDate filters have From and To date pickers alongside the text field.
  • ImprovedSandbox QuickBooks companies do not count toward your subscription.
  • FixedSorting and filtering by Offset Account reflect a pending account change immediately instead of after QuickBooks Online confirms it.
  • FixedAn entity editor's autocomplete list stays in place when it opens above the cell and changes size.
  • ImprovedEditable ledger cells open with a single click, and editable entity cells (account, class, customer, vendor) are styled as dropdowns instead of showing a pencil.
  • FixedYour subscription counts companies correctly when several are connected in quick succession.

Free trials and subscriptions

  • NewInstabooks is a paid subscription with a free 14-day trial: connecting your first QuickBooks company starts the trial automatically, and no credit card is required until it ends.
  • NewThe account page is now a Settings area with two tabs, Instabooks Account and Billing & Subscription, where you add or update a payment method, see your next charge, and cancel or resume your subscription.
  • NewA Chart of Accounts link in the ledger action bar jumps to the current company's chart of accounts.
  • NewBatch Edit's memo editor gains a Clear mode, enables Apply as you type, and keeps focus correctly; truncated ledger and Chart of Accounts cells show their full text in a tooltip.
  • ImprovedIn the ledger, an account name is plain text with a small icon beside it that opens that account's ledger in a new tab.
  • ImprovedA cell that cannot be edited on a given transaction type says why in a tooltip.
  • ImprovedThe Claude connector gives Claude a usage guide with the double-entry rules it needs to total amounts correctly, and returns readable errors.
  • ImprovedIn the Chart of Accounts, the Class column is now Classification; Txn Num is no longer offered in Batch Edit.
  • ImprovedDeleting your Instabooks account asks what made you decide to leave.
  • FixedPressing Back after signing in returns you to the app instead of an error page.
  • FixedThe Talk to us in Slack link in the feedback popover points to a working invite again.
  • ImprovedBatch Edit: the fields you edit are independent of which ledger columns are visible, appear in the order you add them, and drop out of the edit when removed; the panel keeps its values after applying, and the result shows more quietly.
  • FixedBatch Edit no longer flickers when a QuickBooks Online sync finishes, and the memo editor keeps focus correctly when moving between its text box and mode selector or clicking its X.
  • FixedChart of Accounts refuses to move an account under a parent where its full name would collide with an account in another class (Assets:Foo next to Liabilities:Foo), as it already did for renames.
  • ImprovedBatch Edit opens from a tab at the left of the ledger action bar and shows its fields, grayed, before any rows are selected; the selection count, with a deselect for lines hidden by filters, sits in the action bar whether or not the panel is open, and reads Editing while it is.
  • ImprovedAfter applying a batch edit the selection stays put, and the result card stays until you dismiss it; View results opens in a new tab.
  • ImprovedClicking a partially checked Select All checkbox deselects everything, and Select All and Deselect All have tooltips.
  • FixedA transaction that QuickBooks Online updates quietly (for example an e-invoice going from Sent to Viewed) no longer loses its class, tax code, and editable fields in Instabooks.
  • FixedA burst of many changed transactions is fetched completely from QuickBooks Online.
  • NewChart of Accounts: create top-level accounts from the Assets, Liabilities, Income, Expenses, and Equity rows; account names are validated with feedback on create and rename; dropping an account onto a new parent asks for confirmation first. The Active? column is now Status, Description is shown by default, and the General Ledger button is labeled.
  • NewLedger filters: an Account Name filter, a Remove filter button in each panel, panels you can resize, today as a date shortcut, and Enter to close a panel.
  • ImprovedThe ledger's Type column shows QuickBooks Online's own transaction type (for example Cash Expense or Cheque), Transaction Memo is visible by default, Line Memo is renamed Line Description, and the running balance is hidden while filters are applied, where it would be misleading.
  • ImprovedConnecting a company shows live progress and a time estimate while its data is prepared, very large companies sync reliably, and the sync indicator stays quiet during routine small updates from QuickBooks Online. The notification bell counts only unread items and turns red when one is an error.
  • ImprovedLinks into QuickBooks Online open the right company, including for accountants working in client books; linking a second Intuit account goes straight to connecting one of its companies. The companies page shows an Access badge, and a company connected by a different Intuit account is read-only.
  • ImprovedConnecting Claude to Instabooks shows a progress page while your QuickBooks data is prepared for it, and the connection no longer needs re-authorizing after each Instabooks update.
  • FixedScrolling the ledger no longer flickers; transactions in multi-currency companies no longer lose their class, tax code, and editable fields when an account has no currency; a save that fails is rolled back cleanly instead of leaving the row stuck as pending.
  • ImprovedThe companies list is sorted alphabetically by company name.
  • FixedA newly created account appears in the Chart of Accounts immediately, instead of only after QuickBooks Online confirms it.
  • FixedA pending edit no longer flips back to old values when an older copy of the transaction arrives from QuickBooks Online.
  • ImprovedTooltips update while they are open instead of showing stale text.
  • ImprovedActive filters are obvious: a filtered column's header is tinted, each active filter appears as a chip next to "Showing X / Y" with its own × to remove it, and Clear All Filters is the first item in the More actions menu.
  • ImprovedThe Claude connector page at mcp.instabooks.io walks through setup in four steps, with a worked example of a question across several client companies.
  • ImprovedLedger rows have gray zebra stripes, a green hover and a blue selection that combine cleanly; the whole checkbox cell is the click target.
  • ImprovedFilter panels fit the window height, and dropdowns near the bottom of the screen open upward.
  • FixedRunning balances are consistent for lines that share a date, whichever direction the ledger is sorted.
  • FixedAn edit no longer stays marked pending when QuickBooks Online reports the change back before confirming the save, and sync retries instead of failing when QuickBooks Online returns a server error.

Public website and Claude connector

  • Newinstabooks.io is now a full site: features, how it works, an FAQ, About, Support, and articles on cleaning up QuickBooks Online and reclassifying transactions in batches.
  • NewConnect Claude to your books: add the Instabooks connector at mcp.instabooks.io, sign in, and Claude can list your companies and answer questions with read-only queries against them.
  • NewThe Send feedback button in the top bar opens a short form, with a link to talk with the Instabooks team in Slack.
  • NewWhile a newly connected company's data is being prepared, its pages show a loading screen with progress instead of an empty page.
  • ImprovedThe sync status panel shows a warning with details when the last sync failed or the latest QuickBooks Online update has not been applied yet, with a button to send the error to the Instabooks team; the company list loads faster.
  • FixedThe ledger CSV shows the actual offset account instead of <split> on every line.
  • FixedNewly created records are confirmed by QuickBooks Online instead of staying pending.
  • FixedA single transaction Instabooks cannot interpret, or a line with no details, no longer stops a company's data from loading.
  • NewDebit and Credit columns are available in the ledger, each showing the amount on its side and blank on the other.
  • ImprovedChart of Accounts column layout carries over to new tabs, as ledger layouts already do.
  • ImprovedDate filters accept several dates, ranges or comparisons joined with "or".
  • ImprovedEdits made in Instabooks show up in the ledger sooner: every save asks QuickBooks Online for an update instead of waiting for its notification.
  • FixedThe ledger CSV shows account types as plain names.
  • ImprovedThe Batch Edit button is always in the action bar, and after a batch edit the result appears with a link to its details.
  • ImprovedReset Columns to Default resets only column visibility, order, sort and ledger filters, leaving the Chart of Accounts text filter, expand/collapse state and inactive/empty toggles alone.
  • FixedCompanies whose QuickBooks Online uses UK, Canadian or French terms (Cheque, Supplier Credit, Expenditure), payroll and tax payment transactions, and brand-new companies with no dated transactions now sync correctly.
  • NewEdit Line Memo and Txn Memo directly in the ledger: click the cell, press Enter to save or Esc to cancel.
  • NewThe Chart of Accounts can be sorted by any column. The default is Type in QuickBooks Online's standard order, with Num and Account Name as tiebreakers.
  • ImprovedAccount subtypes on the Chart of Accounts display with their proper names and punctuation, such as "Supplies & Materials".
  • ImprovedTooltips are rebuilt across the app and disappear when the thing they point at goes away, such as after Clear Selection.
  • FixedBatch Edit sets Customer and Offset Account correctly.
  • FixedLine memos and transaction memos are read from the right QuickBooks Online fields for every transaction type.
  • NewSafari and mobile browsers get a notice that they are not fully supported, with the option to continue anyway; Chrome, Firefox and Edge are recommended.
  • ImprovedAccount Name stays pinned as the first column of the Chart of Accounts; long dropdown lists open faster.
  • FixedIf the connection to the server drops, the page reconnects on its own instead of going unresponsive until you refresh.
  • FixedThe Chart of Accounts page loads reliably instead of occasionally stalling on a spinner.
  • ImprovedSelect All applies to the lines visible under the current filters and adds to the existing selection, so you can build one selection across several filters and batch-edit it in one pass.
  • ImprovedChart of Accounts default columns follow the company's QuickBooks Online settings: Num appears only when account numbers are on, Currency only for multi-currency companies.
  • ImprovedNotifications are split into brief pop-ups that slide away on their own and a bell menu that keeps the history, with unread markers.
  • ImprovedWhen something goes wrong, you get a clear error page with a reload button.
  • FixedSync status no longer stays stuck on an unfinished sync after the sync has actually completed.
  • FixedDropdown menus reset their highlighted option and scroll position after you narrow the list, so arrow keys start from the top of what matches.
  • FixedLedger sections no longer flash blank when a QuickBooks Online sync updates the data underneath them.

Ledger columns and CSV download

  • NewNew optional ledger columns: Txn Num, Account Name, Acct Num, Acct Type, Acct Subtype and Reconciliation Status, plus separate Line Memo and Txn Memo columns in place of the single memo column.
  • NewDownload any ledger as CSV from its More actions menu, either the whole ledger or exactly the filtered and sorted view on screen, so a cleanup list goes straight into a spreadsheet. The same menu, on ledgers and on the Chart of Accounts, has Reset Columns to Default.
  • NewRe-download a company's data from QuickBooks Online with Request refresh in the sync status panel.
  • ImprovedAccount names in ledger rows link to that account's ledger, and QuickBooks IDs on the Chart of Accounts link to the account's register in QuickBooks Online.
  • ImprovedFiltering: the Amount filter can match absolute values, so 50 finds both 50.00 and -50.00; option search in filter panels is fuzzy, so "as:c" finds "Assets:Cash"; Offset Account shows <split> for multi-line transactions and can be filtered on it.
  • ImprovedThe Chart of Accounts tree starts at the top-level account types, without the extra General Ledger, Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss levels or the Unsupported Transactions placeholder; browser tab titles name the page and the company; notifications show their full message.
  • FixedFiltering on a hidden column works; QuickBooks links for credit card payments open the right page; changing filters no longer briefly squashes rows while results load; the Chart of Accounts CSV's Balance (computed) column is populated and replaces the QuickBooks Balance column.
  • ImprovedBulk Edit is now called Batch Edit everywhere, including in Change History.
  • ImprovedThe ledger action bar is redesigned: it shows the ledger's line count, switches to "Showing X / Y" with a Clear Filters button when filters are active, and keeps the selection count, selected amounts, Batch Edit and Clear Selection together.
  • ImprovedTooltips appear sooner.
  • FixedReturning to a tab that sat idle for a long time no longer produces an error.

Instabooks v3

  • NewInstabooks v3 is a ground-up rewrite that replaces Lightweight Ledger. A company no longer has to be downloaded into the browser before anything appears: its Chart of Accounts and ledgers open immediately, and moving between companies is just as quick.
  • NewA General Ledger shows every transaction line in the company in one continuously scrolling table, and each account's ledger includes its sub-accounts, with a breadcrumb path back up the account hierarchy. Account, Class, Vendor, Customer, and Offset Account cells edit in place with an autocomplete and show a spinner until QuickBooks Online confirms the change.
  • NewColumn filters take typed expressions: dates such as 2025-05, 2025-01-01 .. 2025-03-31, or < 2025-06-01, and amounts such as > 0 < 100 or < 0 or > 100, with a help panel of examples in each filter. Account, Class, Vendor, Customer, and Offset Account filter by a searchable checklist, and the bar above the table shows how many lines the filters hide, with one click to clear them.
  • NewSelect All selects every line that matches the current filters, not only the rows on screen, and shift-click selects a range; the bar above the table totals the selected amounts by currency and flags selected lines that the filters now hide.
  • NewBatch Edit shows, field by field, how many of the selected lines QuickBooks Online allows you to change, deselects the rest in one click, and previews how many lines across how many transactions will change before you apply. Afterwards a notification links to a results page listing each line's before and after values and any transactions that failed.
  • NewThe top bar shows sync status for the open company: when changes last arrived from QuickBooks Online, how long they typically take to arrive, and how many of your edits are still being written back. A company's first sync shows its progress, and the Chart of Accounts is usable before it finishes.
  • NewSign in with Intuit replaces email-and-password login. The Connected Companies page lists each QuickBooks company with its sync status, and the Account page lets you link additional Intuit accounts for signing in or delete your Instabooks account.
  • ImprovedThe account path above a ledger is now a row of breadcrumbs, each parent account a link to its own ledger, with a scroll icon standing in for the General Ledger.
  • ImprovedOn a ledger whose lines span more than one currency, the Running Balance header says that balances are not computed instead of showing a number that mixes currencies.
  • Improvedinstabooks.io sends visitors straight to the app.
  • ImprovedThe Chart of Accounts is rebuilt as a hierarchical grid with per-account and rolled-up totals and line counts, a find-by-name box, Show Inactive and Hide Empty toggles, drag-and-drop to move an account under a new parent, inline creation and renaming, and a CSV download.
  • ImprovedIn the ledger, the navigate arrow on an account cell is hidden when it would lead to the ledger you are already viewing.
  • FixedPassword reset emails are sent reliably, and an expired or already-used reset link shows a page with a link to request a new one.
  • FixedMulti-currency transactions with a line that has no account no longer prevent a company from loading.
  • ImprovedSelected rows keep a hover highlight, and the striped styling for uneditable cells no longer doubles up on linked transactions.
  • FixedOpening a link to a company you do not have access to shows an Access Denied page with a way back to QuickBooks Connections.
  • ImprovedOpening a company loads faster: the server keeps a copy of each company's books and applies only what changed since the last load instead of rebuilding it from scratch.
  • FixedAmount filters on the Debit and Credit columns work; empty cells no longer break number filtering.
  • ImprovedThe Chart of Accounts page has a heading and a hint to click a category or an individual account to open its ledger.
  • NewA Read-only Mode switch on the QuickBooks Connections page stops any changes from being written back to QuickBooks Online. While it is on, a banner says so and links back to the switch.
  • ImprovedThe Connected User column explains that it is the QuickBooks user who connected the company, since QuickBooks allows one connected user per company for an app.
  • FixedNumber column filters default to Equals again.
  • NewThe Debit and Credit columns can be filtered by amount, and the Num, Transaction Memo, and Line Memo columns by text.
  • NewEvery row and column can also be exported as Excel.
  • NewThe ledger's gear menu can export every row and column, ignoring filters and hidden columns, as CSV, in addition to exporting the current view.
  • ImprovedFiltering Amount with Equals ignores the sign, as in Excel, so 250 matches both a debit and a credit of 250. Each export item in the gear menu has a tooltip describing what it includes.
  • FixedCSV exports keep multi-line memos on a single row.
  • ImprovedSaved column layouts, sorts, and filters persist across app updates instead of being reset with each release.
  • FixedThe "hidden by filters" count above the ledger is accurate, including after live updates from QuickBooks Online; it previously flickered or reported hidden lines when there were none.
  • FixedThe customer on an invoice line can no longer be cleared, since QuickBooks Online requires it.
  • NewThe customer or vendor on each line of a deposit can be edited individually.
  • FixedEditing the customer or vendor on a deposit line updates the correct line.
  • FixedEdits no longer stay marked as pending after the server has confirmed them.
  • NewThe website has an Articles page, linked from the top navigation and footer, starting with the guide to batch reclassifying transactions.
  • ImprovedA new logo and header styling in the app.
  • FixedThe selection count and Batch Edit track the current selection reliably after selecting and deselecting lines.
  • FixedThe Offset Account cell is no longer shown as editable on lines where QuickBooks Online does not allow changing it.
  • FixedPurchases of non-inventory items post to the item's expense account, and companies containing them open normally.
  • FixedConnecting a QuickBooks company no longer fails when the Intuit account has a mailing address on file.
  • NewForgot your password? The sign-in page has a Reset Your Password link that emails you a reset link.
  • FixedWhen a record is changed and deleted in QuickBooks Online within the same sync window, the changes are applied in the order they happened, so the result matches QuickBooks.
  • FixedVery large batch edits no longer fail to send.
  • FixedThe Combined Memo column shows the memos from every line of the transaction, not only the lines related to the current one.
  • NewThe website has a Pricing page: one flat monthly price per QuickBooks company with every feature included, a 30-day free trial, and no credit card required.
  • NewA step-by-step guide to reclassifying transactions in batches is published on the website: choosing a company and account, filtering and selecting lines, and applying a batch edit.
  • ImprovedThe Transaction ID column is shown by default in the ledger.
  • ImprovedThe filter menus for the Account, Offset Account, Class, and Department columns list values as a flat list instead of a tree, so picking a value takes one click. Lines with no value are listed as (Blanks).
  • NewThe ledger's gear menu has Download As Beancount…, which exports the company's books as a Beancount plain-text ledger. It waits for any pending edits to finish syncing so the file is consistent.
  • NewThe ledger's gear menu has Download As Excel…, which exports the visible rows and columns as a spreadsheet with values formatted as they appear on screen.
  • ImprovedLedger columns are named Type and Transaction ID instead of Txn Type and TxnID.
  • ImprovedThe page shown after a QuickBooks company is disconnected explains what disconnecting means and how to reconnect, with a button back to QuickBooks Connections.
  • FixedSaved column settings for a ledger are kept between visits; they were being cleared on every page load.
  • FixedWhen QuickBooks Online's change-tracking API returns an error, sync falls back to a full incremental sync instead of stalling, so the company keeps updating.
  • FixedBatch Edit applies changes again when more than one line is selected.
  • ImprovedClicking Connect New QuickBooks Company opens a short walkthrough of the connect and sync steps before sending you to QuickBooks Online, using the official Connect to QuickBooks button.
  • FixedThe feedback form opens from the QuickBooks Connections page.
  • NewThe ledger has a Num column showing each transaction's document number from QuickBooks Online.
  • ImprovedThe browser tab title shows the name of the QuickBooks company you are working in.
  • FixedEditable ledger cells show their edit control and the correct tooltip again.
  • FixedSaved edits are confirmed again, so the sync spinner no longer stays on after a change is saved and failed updates are reported.
  • FixedPressing Delete or Backspace while searching a clearable dropdown no longer clears the field.
  • FixedLoading spinners are centered on the ledger and Chart of Accounts, removing a layout glitch while data loads, and cells that cannot be edited show a not-allowed cursor.
  • FixedGrids no longer flash a loading overlay before their content appears.
  • ImprovedAccount, class, customer, vendor, and department dropdowns search fuzzily and highlight the matching text, so typing part of a name finds it.
  • FixedThe feedback dialog closes on Cancel.
  • NewDisabled accounts can be re-enabled from the Chart of Accounts when their parent account is active, and show struck through when the Active filter includes them.
  • ImprovedEditing works the same way on the ledger and the Chart of Accounts: hover a cell for its edit button, and account cells have an arrow that opens that account's ledger.
  • ImprovedQuickBooks Online default and special accounts such as Undeposited Funds and Retained Earnings show a lock icon and cannot be renamed, moved, or disabled.
  • FixedThe Chart of Accounts column layout is remembered between visits and no longer resets when an account is enabled or disabled, and the type and subtype lists in the Create New Account dialog load reliably.
  • ImprovedAccount numbers are editable on the Chart of Accounts.
  • FixedRenaming an account works again, and duplicate account names or numbers are rejected.
  • FixedEdits on the Chart of Accounts (rename, move, disable) save again.
  • NewReimburse charges from QuickBooks Online sync and appear in the ledger.
  • FixedThe Lines column on the Chart of Accounts counts lines in sub-accounts correctly.
  • FixedItem-based lines on bills and vendor credits post to the item's expense account, and checks linked to other transactions resolve correctly.
  • FixedBill payments with no lines are shown as not editable instead of failing when saved.
  • ImprovedLines from linked transactions can be selected again, so selection totals include them. Batch Edit shows a Deselect Uneditable Lines link next to any field that some selected lines do not support, and a Deselect Linked Transaction Lines link before changes can be applied.
  • ImprovedEvery ledger cell knows whether QuickBooks Online allows that field to change for its line's transaction type. Cells that cannot be edited are striped, hovering explains why, and lines from linked transactions are read-only and cannot be selected.
  • ImprovedCustomer and Vendor are tracked per line, so journal entry lines show and edit their own name, and Department is available on each line of every transaction type that supports it.
  • ImprovedBatch Edit checks every selected line before offering a field and lists the reasons a field cannot be changed.
  • FixedThe class shown on the bank or payable side of a transaction follows the company's class-tracking setting.
  • NewDisconnect a QuickBooks company from the connections page: each row's gear menu disconnects the app and revokes its access after a confirmation. Only the user who connected the company can disconnect it, and disconnecting from inside QuickBooks Online removes the company as well.
  • NewThe ledger settings menu saves the current columns (visibility, order, sizing, sort) as the default for ledgers you have not opened yet, restores the saved columns, or restores the system defaults. Column choices for each ledger are remembered in the browser.
  • ImprovedCompany name changes made in QuickBooks Online sync through.
  • FixedCancelling an account drag on the Chart of Accounts no longer leaves the grid in a dragging state, the ledger no longer reports lines hidden by filters before it has loaded, and menus close when you click elsewhere.
  • ImprovedThe Chart of Accounts sorts by account number within each account type.
  • ImprovedLedger and Chart of Accounts pages have plain URLs with no # fragment, so a link to a specific ledger can be bookmarked.
  • ImprovedThe Feedback and Slack buttons in the top bar are labeled, and the feedback dialog closes with Escape or a click outside it.
  • FixedLedger column settings survive data updates instead of resetting.

Batch Edit and an editable Chart of Accounts

  • NewBatch Edit: check any number of lines in a ledger and change the account, offset account, class, department, customer, or vendor on all of them in one pass. The bar above the grid shows how many lines are selected and their total, and one click deselects lines hidden by filters or lines that cannot be edited.
  • NewThe ledger gains Class, Department, Customer, Vendor, Debit, Credit, Running Balance, memo, and Offset Lines columns, every column filters, and account, offset account, class, department, customer, and vendor are edited inline from a dropdown. Running Balance is computed in date order regardless of how the table is sorted.
  • NewThe Chart of Accounts is editable: rename an account, add a sub-account, move an account under a new parent by dragging it, or disable it. Inactive accounts are hidden by default, and the Lines and Balance columns roll up sub-accounts.
  • NewDownload any ledger view as a CSV file from the ledger's settings menu, which also toggles whether lines from sub-accounts are included.
  • NewSign up for an account from the login page, send feedback from the Feedback button in the top bar, and see newly connected companies listed as syncing until their data is ready.
  • ImprovedThe Chart of Accounts sorts accounts by type within each category, in the same order QuickBooks Online uses (Bank, Accounts Receivable, Other Current Asset, and so on).
  • ImprovedTransaction IDs in the ledger open the transaction in QuickBooks Online in a new tab, long memos show in full on hover, and switching between accounts shows a spinner instead of a stale grid.
  • FixedThe Number column appears on the Chart of Accounts when the company uses account numbers.
  • FixedItem-based lines on purchases post to the item's expense account rather than its asset account, so expense ledgers match QuickBooks Online.
  • FixedChanging the account on a credit card payment transaction now saves to QuickBooks.
  • ImprovedRequest Access is a short form on the site: your name, email, and what you're looking for.
  • FixedA sync keeps the newest version of each QuickBooks record, so an older copy arriving later can no longer overwrite recent changes.
  • ImprovedThe Chart of Accounts opens with every group expanded.
  • FixedAmounts on multi-currency transactions round the way QuickBooks does.
  • FixedOpening the app while signed out takes you to the sign-in page instead of a missing page.
  • ImprovedInvoices and vendor credits can be edited and deleted from a ledger like other transaction types.
  • ImprovedWhen the server takes too long to respond, the error message says so instead of reporting a generic server error.
  • FixedChanges pulled from QuickBooks and your own edits show up in the grid again after a sync.
  • ImprovedLoading a company's data is faster.
  • ImprovedEmployees sync from QuickBooks, and a transaction paid to an employee shows the employee as its counterparty.
  • ImprovedItems deleted in QuickBooks are removed on the next sync.
  • FixedTransactions whose lines carry different classes now sync instead of failing; the transaction-level Class is left blank when the lines disagree.
  • FixedBill payments post against the correct accounts payable account, and zero-amount lines and reference-only bill payments no longer stop a sync.
  • ImprovedAccess is by request: the sign-in page's Sign up link is replaced by Request Access.
  • ImprovedAccount numbers can be edited directly in the Number column of the Chart of Accounts, and the Create New Account dialog takes an account number when the company uses them.
  • ImprovedThe Create New Account dialog shows where the new account sits in the tree, and the Add Child Account button no longer appears on the General Ledger, Balance Sheet, and Profit and Loss group rows.
  • ImprovedSorting a grid column is instant.
  • ImprovedThe sub-account ledger gains Offset Account and Amount columns.
  • FixedSorting the sub-account ledger by Amount orders the lines correctly.
  • NewA ledger can include its sub-accounts: the tree icon next to the account name opens a view of every line posted to the account and everything beneath it.
  • ImprovedEvery row in the Chart of Accounts, including the top-level groups, links to its ledger.
  • ImprovedThe Chart of Accounts groups accounts under Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss headings, in financial-statement order.
  • ImprovedChart of Accounts row actions (rename, add sub-account, make inactive) appear as buttons when you hover a row instead of behind a menu, and making an account inactive asks for confirmation first.
  • ImprovedHovering an account cell in a ledger shows a button that jumps to that account's ledger.

  • NewBatch Edit: select any number of transactions in a ledger and change a field on all of them in one pass, or delete them together.
  • NewSwitch between connected companies from the top bar, and pull the latest changes from QuickBooks with the Sync button.
  • NewSign up with an email address and password.
