A database GUI gives you a table browser and a query editor side by side, which is the most comfortable way to explore the books. Any PostgreSQL client works — these are the ones we use.
Every client asks for the same fields, under slightly different names. Take the values from Settings → Database Access:

One company per connection. The database name and the password go together — a password issued for one company will not open another. If you work in several companies, save one connection per company.

clients show these in the table's column list or in a tooltip —
they are worth reading before you write a query.
